Fiona Wiedmann is a Scottish/ German director and theatre maker based in Berlin, Germany. Her infatuation with theatre began at an early age. This passion grew into a career, and it was after studying a Masters in Theatre Practice & Production at The University of Galway that her career began to flourish.

Constantly seeking out training and development, she has partaken in workshops with Company of Wolves in Glasgow, Junk Ensemble in Ireland and at the Berliner Ensemble. She has been involved in several festivals, notably the Expat Expo at the English Theatre Berlin. She was a selected participant in intensive directing workshops with Garry Hynes in Galway. In June 2019, she interned with Moonfish theatre company on their sell-out run of Redemption Falls as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.She also was invited to be a participant in the European Theatre Academy run by the European Theatre Convention for young European theatre makers in Avignon in 2022.

Fiona has also worked as an assistant director on many productions. This includes for the R&D phase of the project The Bow Maker at the National Theatre of Scotland. 

From August 2021- August 2023, Fiona worked as a Resident Assistant Director at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden in Germany, one of the largest and most influential state theatres in Germany.  Productions there included: Liebe Ohne Leiden (Directed Nicolai Sykosch), Baron von Münchhausen (Directed Rainald Grebe), Android Ergo Sum (Directed Florian Hertweck), Die Katze Eleonore, (Directed Simon Werdelis), Das Leben ist Traum (Directed Tilmann Köhler), Lulu (Directed Daniela Löffner), Jason & Medea Medley (Directed Jaz Woodcock Stewart) with many more productions for which she took over responsibility for. This experience working at Staatsschauspiel Dresden saw her expertise grow exponentially as a director. She can competently work in both the German and UK/ Ireland theatre systems. During her time at the theatre, she also ran a theatre club for adults which resulted in a small show, called Between The Lines. She also had the opportunity to put on and create her own show for one evening, which resulted in Please Don’t Kill The Weib, a successful work in progress.

As well as directing, Fiona also writes. Her short play Dearly Distracted was chosen to be shown at Page 2 Stage Edinburgh and her poetry has been published in Visual Verse.

Fiona is currently based in Berlin and enjoys the freedom that comes with travelling for work. She is both an English and a German speaker. When not creating, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors and playing music.
